     History & Scheduled Events - Line Dance Instructor Certification Training

Take a look at the history of our events and upcoming events over the last five years for dance instructors certification below.

Winter 2015:

1.  Union Crew (UC) Awards Ceremony - ICLDI members will host an information booth/table at the UC affair on Saturday, January 24, 2015 at the BWI Marriott Hotel, Baltimore, MD. Drop by and meet members of the organization and learn about our programs. Our members will be available to talk with you from 8:30am - 2:30pm. There will be a drawing for a Coach handbag and Seacret body products. 

Spring 2015:

2.  Accelerated Instructor Certification Program (AICP) - two day Level 1 certification session.

May 8 - 9, Capitol Heights, MD

May 13th; June 20th; July 25th, Capitol Heights, MD Level 2 Sessions.

Summer 2015:

3. July 18, 2015 - Conference Call to Instructors, Charlotte, NC. The Consortium hosted a one hour conference call with dance instructors in the local Charlotte area. A presentation was given to the attendees on the history, goals and objectives of the organization. A Q&A period was provided to entertain any issues offered. All attendees were encouraged to consider attending a planned AICP session in 2016. 

4.  Accelerated Instructor Certification Program, two day Level 1 certification sessions.

Fall 2015:

5. December 6, 2015 - National Instructor's Conference Call , 8:00pm - 9:30pm - ICLDI Exeuctive Council will host a conference call for dance instructors. This call will provide an opportunity for the participants to discuss the ICLDI goals and objectives and participate in a Q&A session. Rescheduled to January 10, 2016. 

Winter 2016:

6. January 23, 2016, Union Crew (UC) Awards Ceremony - ICLDI members will host a booth/table at the affair. 

7. February 4 - 7, 2016, Annual Big Bang Dance Classic - ICLDI Representatives will attend this line dance affair to participate and observe this progressive affair. 

8. February 2016, AICP Level 1 Session - South Holland Library, 16250 Wausau Avenue, South Holland, IL Rescheduled.

Spring 2016:

9. May 13-14, 2016, AICP Level 1 & 2 - The Senior Center, 2501 E. Cortez St., West Covina, CA. 

Summer 2016:

10. June 23 - 24, 2016, AICP Level 1 - The Church of the Living God, Chicago, IL. COMPLETED.

11. July 29 - 30, 2016, AICP Levels 1 & 2 - Oakcrest Community Center, Capitol Heights, MD - DMV. COMPLETED.

12. August 20, 2016 - ICLDI members Dance Workshop, 1:00pm - 3:00pm - Okacrest Community Center. Rescheduled to October 29, 2016.

Fall 2016:

13. October 2016 - ICLDI members Dance Workshop - DMV COMPLETED.

14. December 2016 - ICLDI members Dance Workshop - Chicago, IL. Rescheduled.

15. Bi-Annual Retreat - September 16 - 18, 2016. Pittsburgh, PA. This event occurs every two years. It will offer 3 days of social fun and health & wellness for the Consortium membership. The retreat will include 6 hours of continuing education on career counseling/psychological aspects of health and wellness, specific aspects of music and dance appreciation and teaching protocols. There will also be social line dancing, visits in the host city for shopping, eating and sight seeing fun! 

Winter/Summer 2017:

17. March 24 - 25, 2017 - AICP Oakcrest Community Center, 1300 Capitol Hgts Blvd, Capitol Hgts, MD. 

18. July 28,  2017 - AICP Level 2, Philadelphia, PA. 

Spring/Summer/Fall 2018

19.  Winter - January 2018, vending booth at UC Star Awards, Bmore, MD. 

20. Summer - July 27-28th, AICP, Capitol Hgts, MD 

21.  Fall - September 28-29, 2018, AICP, Dolton/Chicago, Il 

22.  Fall - Bi-Annual Retreat, October 4 - 7, 2018. Orlando, FL. This event occurs every two years. It will offer 3 days of professional continuing education, social fun and health & wellness for the the Consortium membership. The retreat will include 8 hours of continuing education that will focus on strengthening understanding of counting music and dance steps. The attendees will also discuss the influence of the line dance art & industry on personal growth and inspiration. There will also be social line dancing at the Annual Line Dance Symposium and visits to Disney World in Orlando.

Winter/Summer/Fall 2019

23. Winter - January 2019, vending booth at UC Star Awards, Baltimore, MD. 

March 18 - 28, 2019 - ICLDI European Trip to London - Paris - Rome sponsored by GoAheadTours. 

The travel group had 33 participants and 14 members were from the ICLDI friends. Our group held several conference calls with the Tour Consultants to discuss and confirm the details of the trip. The ICLDI group held a "meet and greet" so all travelers could get to know one another prior to the trip. We had a great time!

  • Dance & Step Movement - Donna Manning, Certified Dance Instructor. Donna served for a number of years as the Director of the National Teachers Associaton (NTA). The NTA offers a comprehensive dance training and certification program that covers all types of dance. Donna has been involved in the line dance industry since the 1980's and brings her wealth of experience and skill to her dance instruction. She will focus her presentation and discussion on the proper execution and use of Standard Dance Terms.
  • Dance Choreography and Presentation - Sharon Lynn Holmes, M.S. Sharon is the founder of the International Consortium of Line Dance Instructors (ICLDI). She is an ICLDI and Golden State Dance Teachers Association (GSDTA) certified line dance instructor. She directs and administers the Accelerated Instructor Certification Program (AICP) for the ICLDI. Sharon is an award winning line dance professional and choreographer with 19 years of line dance experience.

  • Dance Instructors' Mindfulness - Neal Griebling, Career Life Consultant.  Neal completed academic work at the Univeristy of Wisconsin - Milwaukee. Neal has more than 30 years experience as a professional career and life skills coach and chaplain in the area of constuctive living. Neal founded the Future Design Studio, Inc and developed the course on Mindfulness Training. This training presentation is a transformative approach to anyone who wants to take life more fully while performaing at an optimim level of success.
  • Dance Instruction - Chris Roth, Owner Steel City Ballroom. Certified GOLD Ballroom & Rhythm professional dancer. Chris has more than 25 years of dance experience. He is a NDCA Registered Dance Teacher & PRO Am Competitor. He is an 11 Time PRO/AM Top Teacher and is a United States Ballroom Champion, and winner of the US Open of Dance. Chris will incorporate current popular line dances, along with new dances he's created, into a fun and creative dance technique and teaching session at the retreat.

  • Business Enterpreneurship – Branding: Darria Thomas, Attorney of Law.  Also, known as Lady D SOSU (Step Out & Step Up) – Line Dancin Instructor NOLA. Founded her line dancing organization in October 2011 and is a leader in the New Orleans line dance community. Choreographed several line dances, “Don’t Make Me Beg, SOSU That, and SOSU Strut”. Hosts an Annual Spring Brunch and Blackout affair. Offers weekly line dance classes to the public and administers line dance events for the community in the City of New Orleans.
  • Dance Instruction on Counting: Judy Goutierrez, Certified Line Dance instructor. Winner of line dance competitions and choregraphy accomplishments. Dance Around Town affiliated instructor in New Orleans.
  • Injury Prevention – Physical therapy: Chris Young, MAT, LAT, ATC, CSCS. Coordinator, Athletic Training Outreach Program, Ochsner Sports Medicine Institute. Previous: Head Athletic Trainer, University of New Orleans, Athletic Trainer for the United States Soccer Federation, Intern Assistant Athletic Trainer, Emory University and Strength & Conditioning/ Athletic Training Intern for the Philadelphia Phillies and the Oakland Raiders. Graduate of Texas Tech University, Health Science Center.
